The Streak brand has already become a sort of synonym to the idea of a Dell tablet, though, true enough, Latitude isn't letting itself be forgotten either.
In fact, a recently leaked roadmap exposed the eventual arrival of not just a 10-inch Oak Trail media slate, dubbed Latitude ST, but also of a 13-inch convertible one named Latitude XT-3.
The Streak 7 is the one that has already been set up for sale in the US, and it looks like prospective buyers in Canada will soon have access to it as well.
In fact, the Tegra 2-based, 7-inch device is already up for pre-order in the country, although shipments won't start until the end of the ongoing month (April 2011).
The two 1 GHz cores of the Tegra 2 platform are complemented by 16 GB of storage space and a panel resolution of 840 x 480 pixels.
Two webcams are present, like on so many other electronics of this sort. One of them is on the front (1.3 megapixels), for video chats, while the stronger, 5 megapixel one is at the back, for photo shooting and video recording.
As a bonus, the 5 megapixel camera has autofocus and a LED flash, for extra clarity and quality.
WiFi is present (Wi-Fi 802.11n), as is Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Onboard GPS and Android 2.2 operating system.
While Android 3.0 would have certainly boosted appeal, Dell did throw in the Stage UI (user interface) overlay, to make Froyo more easy to use on slates.
Finally, for those concerned about durability, the 7-inch LCD has Gorilla Glass which protects against bumps, drops, scratches and wear from everyday use.
Anyone interested in learning more or even placing an order can drop by Dell Canada (preparing $399.99 in advance might help).
